Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. The cylinder has a light turn-line which has only broken the finish on the edges of the cylinder-stop notches. The screw heads, ejector rod knurling, thumbpiece and hammer checkering and backstrap serrations are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this handgun rates in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. There is very light play in the chambers in full lockup with no perceptible play front-to-rear; the cylinder timing is correct. The double-action trigger pull is smooth with a crisp single-action break. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a blue one-piece cardboard box with matching end-label, an assortment of factory paperwork including owner’s manual, wax paper and plastic trigger indexing plug. The box has light wear on edges and corners and scuffing on the bottom face from storage. The box is in about Fine condition.

Our Assessment: As the name implies, the Distinguished Combat Magnum is a remarkable piece of machinery that is tough enough for any application; this pistol rates in Excellent condition; the bore is bright with sharp rifling and the action has very light play in full lockup. The rubber Hogue grips will provide control with hot .357 Magnum rounds and a steady grip for accurately placed .38 Special at the range. If you have a lever rifle, this would be a great addition to the family; if you are looking for a proven defensive pistol that is used by professionals in combat revolver matches, this is also a smart choice. If you’re a collector, the 3″ configuration is likely the least common for this model and given the obvious intent of the 3″ being a carry gun, it’s unlikely you’ll find another in this high condition. Please see our photos and good luck!
