Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece mother of pearl panels. Each panel has a few scattered light marks and some thin cracks at edges. The right panel has a chip loss on the inside with a filer piece held in place by the grip screw. Overall, the grips are in about Fair-Good condition as not original to the gun.

Type of Finish: The revolver is blued with a case colored frame.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 96% of its metal finish. The barrel and frame have only a few scattered light marks. The trigger guard has some light freckling. The cylinder has scattered light marks and a thin turn-line. The screw heads are sharp but have light tool marks on the edges of the slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Good-Very Good condition (see Mechanics section).

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The timing is correct when operated with force, but when operated gently, the cylinder has a tendency to over-rotate. Lockup produces very little play on all six chambers. The mainspring has been ground and polished, lessening its tension. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a faux-wood cardboard Colt box with styrofoam two-piece insert and an assortment of factory paperwork including manual. The the label-side ears are torn off and an end-ear has been included with a serial-matching label. The box has scattered scuffs, wear and tears, in about Poor-Fair condition.

Our Assessment: Everyone should have a Colt Single Action Army, and this would be a nice one to add to any collection. Manufactured in 1981, this revolver is chambered in the classic .45 Colt cartridge. The 5 1/2″ barrel is a nice compromise between the sight radius of 7 1/2″ and the handling of the 4 3/4″. The gun is in about Good-Very Good condition with 96% of its metal finish and a great bore. The revolver has had some work done to it with a lightened mainspring and will need some more work done to correct the timing, otherwise it appears to be in Very Good-Fine condition visually. This is THE classic sixgun in the classic SAA cartridge that would be just as great for the collector as for the shooter. Please see our photos and good luck!

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This single action revolver CAN be transferred as a dealer sale in California and CAN be sold as a Private Party Transfer (PPT) at our Simi Valley shop. This does not apply to out of state residents.
