Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “COLT MK IV / -SERIES 80-” with a rampant colt. The right of the slide is marked “COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL”. The right of the frame is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” and with the serial number. The right of the trigger guard is marked “P”, the left is marked “3” and with “VP” in triangle.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with one white dot fixed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a square-notch with two white dots dovetailed to the rear of the slide.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is a one piece textured black rubber wraparound with silver-colored rampant colt’s in circles at the center of each side. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. There are no rips or tears. The grips are in Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 96% of its metal finish. The slide has scratching on each side behind the serrations, a scuff at the front of the right flat, the left flat has a light scratch above the slide stpo and scuffing between the markings and the rampant colt. The frame shows light handling marks. There is little to no operational wear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide has little play to the frame and the trigger is crisp. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a blue plastic Colt box and cardboard Colt sleeve with serial-matching label, an assortment of factory paperwork including manual and a total of two stainless steel 8-round magazines. The magazines have light operational wear, in about Fine condition. The plastic box has no notable wear or damage, in Excellent condition. The cardboard sleeve has wear and tears at corners and edges with the four smaller leaves torn off, in about Fair condition.

Our Assessment: This is a MK IV Series ’80 Government Model Enhanced Stainless. It has been enhanced over a standard Government model with a skeletonized hammer, beavertail grip safety, ribbed slide and wraparound rubber grips. This pistol is in about Fine condition with some scuffing/scratches on the slide in isolated areas and little operational wear. It comes with just about everything a new pistol would, though the sleeve for the box has seen better days. This gun has a long service life ahead of it and will make the next owner very happy.
