Markings: The top tang is marked “D75350B”. The receiver’s left shoulder is marked “PB” and the right is marked “CAL. 12”. The water table is marked with three Italian proofs. Each raised wing on the sides of the receiver is marked “P. Beretta”. The bottom of the receiver is marked “GARDONE VT / ITALY”. The trigger plate is marked “PATENTED / Mod. 687 EELL” and is signed “Bottega C. Giovanelli”. The receiver has extensive scroll and floral engraving with a duck scene on the left lockplate, a grouse scene on the right and a woodcock scene on the bottom. The top of the forend iron is marked “75350”. The exterior of the forend iron and the forend latch have scroll and floral engraving matching the receiver.

O/U Barrel Set: The top of the rib at the rear has a silver-inlaid “1”. The left of the top barrel forward of the chamber is marked “P. BERETTA – Gardone V.T. – ITALY -” with “PB” in oval and “CAM. 70 18.4”, the left of the chamber is marked “12 GA. 2 3/4 IN – 30 INCHES” and “F/M”. The left of the bottom barrel is marked “-EXCELSIOR – HIGH STRENGTH ALLOYED STEEL – CAL. 12 / KG1.630 18.4”. The bottom of the bottom barrel is marked “BB-2”. The bottom of the monoblock is marked “D 75350 B” with three Italian proofs and “AM” in box date code. The right of the top barrel’s chamber is marked “BERBEN CORPORATION N.Y. – N.Y. / MADE IN ITALY”.

Un-Single Barrel Set: The top of the rib at the rear has a silver-inlaid “2”. The left of the top faux-chamber is marked “P. BERETTA – Gardone V.T. – ITALY -” with “PB” in oval and “Mono – 12 GA. 2 3/4″ – 32″ – F”. The left of the barrel is marked “-EXCELSIOR – HIGH STRENGTH ALLOYED STEEL – CAL. 12 / CAM. 70 KG1.820 18.4”. The bottom of the bottom barrel is marked “BB-1”. The bottom of the monoblock is marked “R11422B”, “D 75350 B” with three Italian proofs and “AM” in box date code. The right of the top faux-chamber is marked “BERBEN CORPORATION N.Y. – N.Y. / MADE IN ITALY”.

Sights / Optics: 

O/U: There is a red fiber-optic bead in a base at the muzzle with the rear face painted white and a silver-colored mid-bead. The raised portion of the step-rib is finely checkered and the lower portion at the rear is serrated for glare-reduction.

Un-Single: There is a long red-orange fiber-optic sight in a base installed on the rib behind a red fiber-optic in a base at the front of the rib and a smaller silver-colored mid-bead. The raised portion of the step-rib is finely checkered and the lower portion at the rear is serrated for glare-reduction.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The checkered select walnut buttstock has a flared-bottom pistol grip with right-side palm-swell, raised, adjustable comb, silver plate inlaid to the belly and ventilated black rubber Pachmayr White Line recoil pad. The forend is checkered select walnut. The Un-Single barrel set has a two-piece smooth walnut forend extension. The buttstock has a few scattered light compressions and handling marks. The forend has a few scattered light compressions and a thin, light scratch extending back and to the left from the rear of the latch assembly, extending approximately 1/4″ into the  checkering. The right panel of the Un-Single barrel’s forend extension has a vertical drag-line in the center and the left panel has a couple of light compressions near the rear mounting screw escutcheon. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is sharp. The recoil pad is pliable and has very little wear, in about Excellent condition. The LOP measures 14 1/2″ from the front of the trigger’s installed wide-shoe to the back of the recoil pad, 13 1/2″ to the back of the wood. The adjustable comb is currently set with a drop of 1 1/4″ at the front of the comb, 1 5/16″ at the rear and 2 3/8″ at the heel, consistent across both barrel sets. The cast is about neutral. Overall, the stocks are in about Fine-plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is no erosion in the bores. The Un-Single barrel set has porting at the front of the barrel on each side.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains approximately 97% of its metal finish. Both barrel sets show light wear from the forend and receiver, concealed when assembled. The Un-Single barrel has thinning at the muzzle and a few light marks near the front and around the porting. The double barrel set has a few light marks on the top barrel near the front on the left side. The forend iron and receiver show only light handling marks. The trigger guard has a light mark on the bottom near the left edge. The screw heads are mostly sharp with a couple showing light tool marks. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun set is in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly including ejectors. The action locks up tight with no play with either barrel set. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes in a black hard-sided case with one half set up to hold the stocked receiver and the other to hold the barrel sets, forend and accessories. Accessories include replacement fiber-optic inserts for the Un-Single barrel, a hex-wrench for the adjustable comb and a single snap-cap. The case has a blue plush interior lining and shows wear from the contents, discoloration from oil with one of the divider’s retention tabs broken and a couple of tears on the edge of the divider. Overall, the case is in about Very Good condition.

Our Assessment: This Beretta 687 EELL in 12 gauge is a great example of quality Beretta shotguns. From the solid action to Bottega Giovanelli’s beautifully engraved scenes on the receiver, this is a shotgun that will turn some heads at the range with performance to match its looks. The shotgun is in about Fine-Excellent condition with only light wear, bright bores and strong mechanics. Perfect for trap with the Un-Single barrel, hunting and other clay sports with the Over-Under set, this is a shotgun that can do it all.
