Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. The finish is lightly thinning at all edges. The barrel has a couple of nicks at the outside edge of the muzzle and a few scattered light marks. The receiver appears to have some very light frosting, but it is difficult to make out in the matte finish. The bolt knob has handling wear and the bolt body has light-moderate operational wear. The floorplate and trigger guard have a few light scuffs. The screw heads are tool marked but have strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good-plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. There is a safety mounted on the right side of the receiver. Pushed forwards, the safety is OFF. If pulled back all the way, it locks both the bolt and the trigger. If pulled back half-way, it blocks only the trigger. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the installed scope-bases as described.

Our Assessment: This is a vintage pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 rifle chambered in .270 Winchester and made in 1952. The rifle is the “Standard Rifle” style with monte-carlo stock and is one of the most popular styles in one of the most popular chamberings. With its high velocity and excellent ballistics coefficient, the .270 Winchester makes for a great hunting rifle where longer shots may need to be taken, it makes a fine long-range target rifle as well. This is a beautiful rifle in a great hunting cartridge that is ready to bag some game. That said, the Pre-64 Winchesters have high collector interest, and this would be a good addition to a Winchester collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
