Markings: The left of the slide is marked “BLACK STALLION” with a rampant colt logo. The left of the frame is marked “BS118”. The right of the frame is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.”. The right of the chamber is marked “CAL 380”. The left of the trigger guard is marked “B” and with “VP” in a triangle, the right of the trigger guard is marked “Y”.

Barrel Length: 2 3/4”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a ramp blade, integral to the slide. The rear sight is a square notched base, dovetailed to the slide.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are smooth pearl panels with gold Colt medallions. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The right side of the dust cover has a small scuff at the front, the barrel has very light operational wear and there are some very light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a total of one 7-round blued steel with an extended floorplate. The magazine has intact feed lips with a strong spring and minimal operational wear, in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: Made in 1993, this Black Stallion is one of 500 made as a limited production offering of Colt Mustangs. The pistol is in about Excellent condition with a small scuff on the dust cover being the only notable flaw. This would make a great addition to a Colt collection given its scarcity, but like all Mustangs it would also make a great concealed carry pistol. With its small size and the various .380 ACP defensive loads available, this pistol will be easy to carry even in summer attire. Please see our photos and good luck!
