Markings: The left of the barrel is marked “KIMGER MFG. INC. YONKERS, NY. USA .300 WIN MAG CLASSIC”. The left of the receiver is marked “Kimber 8400” and with the serial number. The right of the chamber ring is marked “DUCKS UNLIMITED / 75th Anniversary”. The floorplate is marked with a duck’s head logo and “DUCKS / UNLIMITED / 7th Anniversary”.

Barrel Length: 26″

Sights / Optics: The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope mount (none present). There is no provision for iron sights.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered walnut with dark forend cap, capped pistol grip, straight comb, sling studs front and rear and solid black rubber buttpad. The stock has no notable wear or damage, only very light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 3/4” from the front of the trigger to the rear of the pad. The stock rates in Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The bolt has light operational wear, but there is no other notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The screw heads are undamaged. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: Weighing in at 7.5lbs, this Kimber 8400 Classic is a lightweight hunting rifle that you can carry around all day and not have it weigh you down.  The .300 Win Mag cartridge is a belted magnum developed to compete with Remington’s 7mm Magnum and compete it does. It is a popular round for larger or tougher game animals with good long-range performance, as found by the many military and law enforcement snipers and marksmen who use this round. The rifle is gorgeous, with beautifully figured select walnut for the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Ducks Unlimited.
