Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked “F628499″, the bolt is marked “SAVAGE”. The left side of the stock is marked “SIMONSON MACHINE CO. / GOODING IDAHO”.

Sights / Optics: This rifle has a BSA 8-32X44 Platinum Series Rifle Scope. The scope features reset to zero turrets, multicoated lenses,  and a crosshair and dot reticle. The scope is mounted via bases to the one piece picatinny rail.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The Simon Machine Co. aluminum target chassis shows light handling marks and is currently “in the white” finish. The stock features 1911 grip panels and an adjustable comb and buttpad to customize this rifle for the perfect fit. There are no chips or cracks in the aluminum. The markings are clear. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is deep. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. The surfaces show light handling and drag marks from storage. The stainless barrel shows no signs or rust or erosion.  The receiver shows finish loss near the bolt release and on the barrel nut. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. An adjustable Timney trigger is installed with a 4lb 12oz pull. We did not fire this rifle.

Our Assessment: This is a nice light 16lb target rifle. Custom built bench rest target rifles are some of the most accurate rifles in the world, capable of shooting a thousand or more yards depending on how the rifle was built. This rifle has a Shilen barrel, which is known for being one of the best barrel manufactures in the world. The 6mm BR is also known for being for one of the most accurate and consistent cartridges to date. With the Shilen barrel, 6mm BR caliber barrel, and bench rest stock you should be able to hit anything that you can set your eyes on.
