Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD, CT U.S.A.”. The left side of the barrel is marked “Colt Buntline Special .45”. The left side of the frame is marked “PAT. SEPT. 19, 1871 / JULY 2,72 JAN. 19,75” and with the “Rampant Colt” logo. The underside of the frame at the grip frame is marked “SA46336”. The left side of each portion of the grip frame is marked “SA46336” under the grips. The left front of the trigger guard is marked with a “VP” in a triangle and at the rear with a “K”. The right side of the trigger guard is marked “Z”. With the hammer zip-tied in place, we could not properly inspect the markings on the front and rear faces of the cylinder, however “336” is visible on the front face. The inside of each grip panel is scribed “46336”.

Barrel Length: 12″

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a quarter round blade fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a square groove in the top strap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered black synthetic panels with rampant colt in oval at the top and an American eagle with “E PLURIBUS UNUM” banner above it clutching olive branches in one talon and arrows in another with a shield in front of it. The inside of each grip panel is scribed by hand “46336” with “COLT’S HTFD. CONN.” molded into them. The grips have no notable wear or damage with only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Excellent condition.

Type of Finish: The revolver is blued with a case colored frame.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is no notable wear or damage, only some very light handling marks. The cylinder appears unturned. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: With the hammer zip-tied in place, we could not test the function of the action. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards (just kidding, this gun is clean).

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a cardboard box with serial-matching label, two-piece foam padding, and with an assortment of factory paperwork including manual and yellow “Stop Sign” hang-tag. the box has scattered light wear and scuffing, in about Very Good condition.

Our Assessment: Everyone should have a Colt Single Action Army, and this would be a nice one to add to any collection. Manufactured in 2007, this revolver is a Buntline Special chambered in the classic .45 Colt cartridge, the original chambering for the SAA and with a 12″ barrel. It is in Excellent condition, appearing unturned and with no notable wear or damage. It comes with its original box which has done a good job of protecting this revolver for the last few years. This is going to be popular with collectors, but if you can bring yourself to clip the zip-tie, it’s sure to be a fun shooter as well. Please see our photos and good luck!
