Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 92% of its metal finish. The left side of the frame has a crescent-shaped mark under the slide release from reassembly, the frontstrap has scattered light wear throughout, the right side of the slide appears to have had soe pinprick erosion covered by the nickel finish toward the front, the right side of the frame has a few scratches just in front of the head of the slide release, there is a light wear mark on the right side of the dust cover just in the rounded portion and there are several very light scratches throughout. The front edges of the slide appear to have received more polishing than the rest of the pistol and there is a slight taper on the last 1/4″ of the slide on either side which is blended into the edges of the flats and rounded top. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are surpisingly clear for a refinish. Overall, this handgun is in Fine condition as refinished.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The barrel and bushing lockup is nice and tight while the slide-to-frame fit has a little bit of play. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a faux-wood cardboard Colt box with two-piece syrofoam insert and a packet of assorted paperwork including the owner’s manual. The box is missing its end flaps on the label side and has light to moderate wear on the edges and corners. The styrofoam inserts have light compressions on the exterior, oil stains and wear from the sharp portions of the pistol on the interior. The box is in about Good condition overall. This pistol also comes with one nickel-finished 9-round magazine showing very little wear with intact feed lips and a strong spring. The magazine is in about Excellent overall condition.

Our Assessment: The nickel refinishing on this pistol was done quite well, leaving all of the markings intact with only a hint of evidence that it was refinished at all (apart from Colt’s records). It shows light wear consistent with responsible use. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, combined with the 5″ barrel and the steel frame and slide this will make for a nice, comfortable pistol suitable for recreational shooting, home defense, or concealed carry if you can conceal a Government-sized 1911. The sights pick up and align quickly, especially for those already used to stacked-configuration sights. Please see our photos and good luck!
