Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “PYTHON .357 / .357 MAGNUM CTG.”, the right is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.”The left side plate has the Rampant Colt logo, the left side of the trigger guard is marked “VP” in triangle and a partially struck “I”. The crane and crane cut are marked with the serial number.
Barrel Length: 2.5”, with full underlug and ventilated rib.
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a black blade with an orange insert, pinned onto the ventilated rib. The top of the rib and frame are matte finished for glare reduction. The rear sight is a flat top, square notched and white outlined leaf in a base that is adjustable for windage and elevation; the base is pinned and slotted onto the top of the frame.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are Colt Medallion Pachmayer Presentation Grips. These are the full size target style grips. The stocks show only faint scuffs with no losses. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: e-Nickel
Finish Originality: We see no evidence of a post production refinish – Factory Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. The cylinder has a faint drag line and there are a few extremely sparse and faint scuff marks present. The face of the cylinder has burn rings. This revolver looks to have been used but well taken care of in the interim. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine – Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. As with the lineage of Python revolvers, the cylinder produces solid full lockup of all 6 chambers with crisp trigger pulls. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is an aftermarket Cabela’s hard case, very similar to brand name Pelican Cases. The foam is in excellent condition. The exterior of the case has only light scratches. Overall Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: The Colt Python is synonymous with rigid construction and captivating styling. This 2.5″ E-Nickel Python is one of the rarest we have seen come through the shop available for sale. Not to mention that the gun is available to the winning bidder at Simi Valley location as a PPT. The gun has been fired, but overall still in excellent condition.
