Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked “L61R No. 39541” and with 2 proofs. The left side of the barrel is marked “MADE IN FINLAND”. The top of the barrel’s chamber is marked “SAKO / Cal.30-06”. The underside of the bolt handle is scribed with “541”.
Barrel Length: The barrel is approximately 24″ long
Sights / Optics: There is no provision for iron sights. The top of the receiver is grooved for Sako pattern scope mounts. The rifle is equipped with a Leupold VX-3 4.5-14x50mm Gold Ring Scope and Boone and Crockett Reticle. Leupold scopes are backed with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. This scope is in excellent overall condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The action sits in a beautiful stock with skip line checkering, which remains sharp. The stock has a fluted comb which forms a left side cheek piece. Two swivels and studs are installed. The finish is in excellent shape. The stock is free of cracks and notable marks, please see our pictures; the grain is active and the finishing is terrific overall. There are a lot of small compression marks scattered throughout, for a used hunting rifle this is is common. The LOP measures 13 3/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the factory brown rubber recoil pad, which remains soft to the touch. The stock rates in about Fine overall condition as well.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The rifle probably saw limited use. The tang screws are sharp, the markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. It has a sliding safety mounted on the right rear of the receiver. The trigger is light and crisp. We did not fire this rifle.

Our Assessment: Pre- Garcia imported Sako rifles are highly sought after by collectors and serious hunters for the exceptional quality and craftsmanship devoted into every rifle. This is a beautiful rifle in a popular .30-06 cartridge that is more than capable to take all north american big game. We imagine this rifle in the gun rack of a Jeep at the ready. Few hunts end in success, even fewer without a good rifle.
