Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 99% of its current metal finish. The surfaces are free of notable damages, we don’t think this pistol saw much handling, let alone range time. The cylinder lacks a defined drag line of any sort, the revolver came to us zip tied around the hammer, we did not take the pistol apart to look at its inner markings, we do not think the screw heads have ever been turned outside of the factory. The revolver has beautiful metal to metal fit and the case color patterns are simply beautiful. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in about Excellent Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this revolver.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes with a two piece blue Colt Custom Shop box, in the serialized white cardboard slip sleeve, the exterior of the sleeve has roughing from storage, a few other marks are seen, the two piece blue box has light scuffing, all in Fine to Excellent condition. Also included is a clear chamber indicator and group of factory paperwork, in Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: Colt’s Single Action Army revolver had a halt in production in 1941 when the Second World War required all that Colt’s production lines could amass for production of many a firearm. This is a 3rd Generation in .45 Colt with a 5 1/2″ barrel. We couldn’t find anything to report on blemishes or damages, we don’t think this revolver saw the light of day often. The wood, blue, case coloring and gold medallion color scheme captivates at first sight. The revolver is complete with its original Colt paperwork and factory box, making it a find for Colt collectors and ANYONE who can appreciate a timeless design. All Colt SAA revolvers are collectible: 1st, 2nd or 3rd Generation, just to different degrees, and the high condition on this one will bring a premium; instead of investing in the stock market, get a functioning investment that will only appreciate down the road.
