Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 96% of its metal finish. The top of the frame’s matted area has some dark freckles, the left of the frame has a small bruise, the cylinder has a shallow bolt rubbing mark and a few scuffs. For its age, the pistol looks to have been shot infrequently and was well taken care of in the interim. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder produces tight lockup in all 6 chambers with no measurable play fore to aft or side to side. The double action trigger pull is smooth, the single action is crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None

Our Assessment: This is a 1981 made Smith & Wesson model 65-2 M&P Heavy Barrel Stainless, showing only a few very light marks on the metal surfaces, a bright, sharp bore and Magna walnut stocks without major damages. The cylinder produces tight lockup in all 6 chambers with no measurable play fore to aft or side to side. The double action trigger pull is smooth, the single action is crisp. The low profile fixed sights are a snag-free approach to smooth draw, making this a spectacular duty or home defense revolver. Being chambered in .357 Magnum, stopping power is no issue, while being able to fire .38 Special for target practice at the range. Please see our pictures and good luck.
