There is no holster wear at the muzzle, no thinning or scratching on the trigger guard. The blue is absolutely brilliant, and this revolver has obviously spent the vast majority of its life in the box. The back strap shows two freckled in the serrations, which should clean. The trigger barely even shows any wear. The Screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this gun rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions as designed, both single and double action, though we have not test fired this revolver.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The gun comes in its original two-piece wood grain box, with the serial number in grease pencil on the back. The box is sound and in Fine condition, with only slight wear to the corners and marking to the lid. Both halves of the box, the desiccate pack, plastic bag, “Handling The Handgun” brochure, screw driver, and warranty card are included.
Our Assessment: The Colt Python is considered to be the pinnacle of Colt’s double action revolver manufacture. This example has the appropriate grips for its year of production and is original, with only almost o wear to speak of. It is a beautiful Colt blue and has a trigger for which the Python is justly famous. It deserves to be more than a “safe queen”, but since it has been one for 46 years, it should probably stay that way.
