Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked “DEFIANCE / COLUMBIA FALLS, MT”, the right is marked “DEVIANT” and the serial number. The scope rings have Seekens Precision company logo. The scope is marked “SCHMIDT BENDER / 5-25X56 / PM II / Made in Germany”. The bipod is marked “AMERICAN DEFENSE / QD AUTO LOCK / MADE IN U.S.A.” The magazines are marked “ACCURATE-MAG”. The recoil pad is marked “Decelerator”.

Barrel Length: The barrel is a Bartlien Match Grade Shilen #6 1:10” twist 26” heavy profile item, with an American Precision Little Bastard muzzle brake incorporated into the muzzle.

Sights / Optics: The rifle does not have provisions for iron sights. The receiver is wearing a 6 ½” Picatinny pattern scope rail with low 0.92” Seekins Precision rings, which is holding a Schmidt & Bender PM11 5 to 25 power scope with a 56mm front objective and 1/4 MOA click adjustment; the scope comes with Butler Creek flip-up scope caps; the scope body is free from notable marks, the objectives are clear from visible damages. The scope has a P4L fine ranged crosshair reticle, the scope image is brilliantly sharp and bright; the scope is in Excellent condition, as are its mounts.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a Manners T4 Deviant chassis, painted gray, blue and black; the construction of the stock is automatically recognizable as SOLID; the stock free floats the barrel to the receiver, the stock has QD sling receptacles, found on the left of the forend and butt, with another option on the belly; the stock presents a vertical pistol grip with ambidextrous palm swells; the underside of the belly has a hook shape for stability; the underside of the forend has a Picatinny rail that is currently wearing an American Defense bipod that is further described in Accessories. The stock is free of notable marks and looks to have been used infrequently. The LOP can be adjusted by removing or keeping the 1 3/8” of spacers that are currently installed; the LOP currently measures 15 ¼” from the front of the trigger to the back of the Pachmayr Decelerator black rubber recoil pad, which was ground by the Griswold factory to fit the contour of the spacers and stock. The pad is in Excellent condition. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Finish Originality: All Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp, with very little, if any evidence of use outside of the factory. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The rifle has but a few faint scuffs, looking to have seen minimal, if any use outside of the factory with proper care in the interim. The only mark of note is a small wear spot on the left side of the barrel near the muzzle. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. In its current configuration with one magazine inserted, the rifle weighs 16lbs 10oz. The trigger has almost no take-up and breaks at 2lbs. The rifle has a Bartlien match grade, Shilen #6 heavy barrel, Badger Ordnance M5 BDM detachable magazine system, Jewell trigger, cut and lapped match grade barrel crown, incorporated American Precision Little Bastard muzzle brake. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included are three 5-round McRee Precision magazines, which show minimal use, in Excellent condition. An American Defense bipod is included, sporting 5 positions of adjustability fore to aft and the legs are adjustable from 6 ¼” to 9 ½” with 5 adjustment points per leg, the bipod has minimal wear in Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: Ever wanted a completely custom built precision rifle but didn’t want to wait MONTHS to have it completed? This is a full fledged tactical setup, built on a Defiance Deviant action, fit with a Bartlien Match Grade Shilden #6 heavy barrel, which has an incorporated American Ordnance Little Bastard brake; the stock is a Manners T4 with black, white and gray duracote finish. The action wears a Picatinny pattern rail that is holding a Schmidt & Bender PM11 with ¼ MOA adjustment and P4L reticle. The action has a Badger Ordnance M5 detachable magazine plate which gladly accepts the three included McRee 5-round magazines. The Jewell trigger breaks crisp at 2lbs, making this an enviable piece no matter how savvy one is on tactical parts. The Griswold Brothers are located about 30 minutes from our shop and we’re always happy to point people to their work, as their track record resounds with positive feedback. This camouflage pattern is perfect for the upcoming cold weather and we can’t think of a better way to greet the holiday season than with the boom of .300 Win Mag!
