Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are a two piece semi-gloss finished laminated wood set with silver-colored Colt logo medallions; the front of the grips wrap around the fore strap of the grip frame, exposing the serrated back strap. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. The cylinder has a faint drag line and there are a few extremely sparse and faint scuff marks present. This revolver looks to have been used infrequently and was well taken care of in the interim. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. As with the lineage of Python revolvers, the cylinder produces absolutely solid full lockup of all 6 chambers with crisp trigger pulls. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a period-correct but non-serialized blue plastic hard case from the Colt factory, showing light marks but missing its end label, rating in about Fine Plus condition. A 15 yard factory test target which is serialized to the revolver is included, showing that this item can produce a 0.733” (center to center) 6-shot group! Also included is an owner’s manual, service work notice, Massachusetts warning, registration card, clear factory plastic bag, hang tag and clear chamber indicator are all included, in about Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: The Colt Python Elite was introduced to fill a void in the market after the discontinuation of the original Python. The name is synonymous with rigid construction and captivating styling. This Elite looks to have been used seldom and is shown on paper to produce some impressive groups at 15 yards. The original factory hard case, factory paperwork, a clear chamber indicator and test target are included, making this a nice find for those seeking a home defense or duty carry item. Nothing scares bad guys away faster than whipping your python out! Please see our pictures and good luck.
