Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “44 Magnum”, the right is marked “Performance Center”. The left side of the frame is marked “L” with a directional arrow for the internal frame lock and S&W’s monogram logo, flanked by laurels and “PERFORMANCE CENTER”. The right side of the frame is marked with the four line Marcas Registradas. The left side of the grip frame is marked “V / V”, the right is marked “1278 / 24898”, the yoke is marked “0264”, the cut is marked with the serial and model number. The inside of the grip panels are marked “N”.

Barrel Length: 2 5/8”, slab sided, with full underlug and serrated rib.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a black blade with a red insert, dovetailed onto a rise in the rib. The rear sight is a flat top, square notched and white outlined leaf in a base that is micrometer click adjustable for windage and elevation.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are Hogue semi-checkered walnut items. The left panel has a few very light scuffs on the lower portion. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Finish Originality: Factory Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance is shown as some light operational scuffs on the flanks of the trigger; the cylinder has a thin drag line from normal use and the front sight has some very light edge wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder produces absolutely solid full lockup in all 6 chambers with no measurable play. The double action trigger pull is smooth, the single action is short and crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is an elegant un-fluted cylinder Performance Center 629-6 snub-nose revolver with a 2 5/8” slab side barrel. Showing only a few light marks on the stocks and metal surfaces, this item is about as sharp as you can find a used revolver of such usefulness! The cylinder produces absolutely solid full lockup with fluid trigger pulls and superb balance. The all stainless steel construction gives heft, which will come in handy for .44 Magnum rounds and .44 Special cartridges can be used for target practice. This is one beautiful revolver that will be welcomed into any collection but would do just as well for duty or personal protection applications. Please see our pictures and good luck.
