The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Type of Finish: Polished Nickel

Finish Originality: Factory Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There are infrequent patches of pin prick erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 96% of its metal finish. The balance is represented by scattered scuffs and some shallow scratches; the left forward side of the barrel has a patch of scuffs and there are small isolated instances of frosting. The cylinder has a thin drag line and the recoil shield has some operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine condition and would rate higher but for the pin prick erosion in the bore.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The chambers lock up with no perceptible play. The double action trigger pull is a bit heavy but rolls smoothly. The single action trigger pull is crisp and short. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.

Our Assessment: This is a beautiful Colt Python in polished nickel, sporting a 6” barrel with full underlug and ventilated rib. The surfaces only show light scuffs and a few small spots of shallow frosting. The bore is bright with sharp rifling but unfortunately there are some spots of pin prick erosion; despite this, the pistol should shoot true. These are highly sought after and are known for their reliability and superb accuracy. Although some may flinch at the thought of shooting such a highly collectible firearm, if you are brave enough to shoot this beautiful revolver you are sure to be delighted, especially a coveted Nickel model in such nice condition; let’s all admit though, this would be an incredible revolver to take to the range. If you live in California, a Private Party Transfer, such as we offer here, is just about the only way to acquire a factory Nickel Colt Python. Please see our pictures and good luck.
