Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “Lone Star Rifle Co., Inc. / Conroe, Texas U.S.A.”. The bottom tang is marked “165”. The underside of the barrel is marked “45-70”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a globe assembly with a thin beaded post and a level and the rear sight is a soule type 4” vernier long-range sight calibrated from 0 to 325 for elevation and adjustable for windage, with selectable aperture sizes. No dovetail is present to the rear of the barrel.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The two piece smooth pistol grip smooth walnut stocks feature a case colored semi Schnabel forend tip. Multiple compression marks can be seen in the wood, especially on the underside of the forend and on the belly of the butt stock. The LOP measures 14 1/8” from the front of the forward trigger to the back of the case colored shotgun style butt plate which exhibits minor marks from use and is in Excellent condition. The stocks rates in about Fine overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. Little evidence of use is visible on the metal surfaces. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly and features an adjustable double set trigger which is currently set to 14 ounces. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rear sight is protected by a fringed leather sight bag which exhibits spots of discoloration on the surfaces and is in Very Good condition.
Our Assessment: This is a beautiful reproduction of the Remington Rolling Block rifle manufactured by the Lone Star Rifle Company. These spectacular rifles were hand crafted by Dave Higginbotham until his passing in 2011. This rifle is chambered in .45-70 Government and is equipped with a glob front sight and level. A soule type 4” vernier long-range tang sight is mounted to the rear tang. The case coloring is very deep and deep. The Nitre blue finish on the barrel is deep and rich and the rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. Handling marks are visible on the deluxe walnut stocks, but no structural issues or evidence of harsh use can be found. This Lone Star Rifle Co. rolling block rifle is ready for silhouette competition right out of the box. They are well respected firearms which will be certain to increase in value.
