Our Assessment: Holland & Holland is one of the finest gun makers in the United Kingdom. Starting in 1835, Harris Holland left the family organ making business and went off to create firearms. In 1858, as the company expanded Holland thought it was important to attract an upscale clientele so he moved his business to 98 New Bond Street which is the UK equivalent of Rodeo drive in Beverly Hills. Holland & Holland stayed at the Bond St. address for over 100 years. This shotgun is marked with the 98 New Bond St. Address and ages from approximately 1875 to 1887. This shotgun has very interesting Damascus steel pattern barrels which are beautiful, so please see our photos. There is border engraving on the receiver. It has no cracks and has a beautifully grained buttstock. This is a fine English antique shotgun which has been cared for well throughout the years.
