Markings: The right side of the receiver is marked “569367”. The left side of the barrel is marked “MADE IN U.S.A. / WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL” and “WINCHESTER MODEL-70 300 WIN. MAGNUM”. The left side of the receiver is marked “WINCHESTER / TRADE MARK”. The top of the barrel is marked with a Circle “WP” proof.
Barrel Length: 24” Round
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded silver beaded blade fixed to the barrel and the rear sight is white diamond flip-up leaf with a white diamond inset dovetail set to the integral barrel band. Tapped holes for scope bases are visible on the front and rear of the receiver. No scope rings are provided.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The one piece checkered pistol grip stock features a Monte Carlo comb and a fluted buttstock. Sling swivels are fitted into the belly and underside of the forend. Strong compression marks are visible on the right side of the stock between the trigger and the checkering with shallower marks present on the left side of the forend. The checkering on the right side of the forend is mildly flattened with minor signs of use. The checkering in the right side is flattened from use with notable mars present along the lower edge and one mark in the finish on the rear edge which touches the checkering and finish of the stock. The points of the grip checkering are flattened from use and compression marks are visible on the edges. Shallow marks are present on the buttstock. The LOP measures 13 ½” from the front of the trigger to the back of the vented recoil pad which features a checkered rear face sporting a Winchester logo. The rear face is discolored and exhibits evidence of use. The rubber is firm and pliable and the recoil pad is in Good condition. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is gray and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. Our Bore Gauge indicates a ME of .4.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 88% of its metal finish. A ring of finish loss is visible at the muzzle and marks in the finish are present on the left side of the barrel forward of the forend, with a notable mar in the finish visible at about the midway point. A cluster of pinprick erosion is present on the right side of the barrel to the rear of the front sight. Scattered shallow marks are evident on the rear half of the barrel with a small spot of surface erosion observable on the top of the barrel at the forend tip, a compression mark to the right of the rear sight and a cluster of pinprick erosion are apparent on the left side of the barrel behind the rear sight. Light marks are visible on the receiver with mars in the finish around the rear sight mounting screws, evidence of a previously installed scope base. Finish loss is visible on the bolt handle. The screw heads are sharp, except for the rear screw on the receiver which exhibits moderate deformity but is serviceable. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle.

Our Assessment: Winchester began shipping the Model 70 in January 1, 1937. An improvement on the Model 54, the Model 70 became one of the most popular hunting rifles ever produced. This is a Pre-1964 Model 70 chambered in .300 Winchester Magnum which is extremely versatile and has been adopted by many shooting disciplines. The cartridge has found favor by hunters, target shooters, military units, and law enforcement departments. Hunters found that the cartridge was an effective all around hunting cartridge, suitable for hunting big game such as Elk and Moose. This rifle is in Very Good condition, retaining 88% of its metal finish. The bore is good and the marks are all cosmetic. This is a great time to pick up your new hunting rifle for next season.
