Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99+% of its current metal finish. The pistol was refinished after being engraved by Master Engraver Kenny Majors. The exquisite artwork features a floral scroll design with intricately tooled backgrounds and flowers at the ends of the patterns. The backgrounds work with the lightly envisioned leaves to create an airy, uncluttered design. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly and the cylinder lockup is tight. We did not fire this handgun.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a walnut presentation case with a Colt logo burned into the lid. The box sports brass latches and hinges. Scattered shallow marks are visible on the box with a cluster of small compression marks visible on the right side of the front edge. The inside of the lid is lined with burgundy velveteen and the floor of the box is filled with a form fit compartment covered with burgundy velveteen. The interior material shows compression marks from contact with the pistol. A brass antique style key is present. The case is in Fine overall condition.
Our Assessment: This one of a kind 2nd Generation Colt Single Action Army; one of the pistols issued by Colt to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the company’s founding in 1836. This particular pistol has been magnificently engraved by Master Engraver Kenny Majors. The art work is strong yet delicately detailed. There is finely detailed background texture within the airy scroll work which gives the work an uncluttered, light feeling. This Colt Single Action Army is probably unfired and shows almost no signs of handling. With the marvelous artwork and mother of pearl grips, this pistol will instantly become the center piece of any collection.
