Tupelo Flash’s Pair of Colt single Action Army’s

Colt 2nd Generation 1873 Single Action Army’s — Engraved .357 Magnum used for TV’s “The Cowboys”
Make: Colt
Model: Single Action Army
Year of Manufacture: 1971 and 1972
Type of Finish: Each pistol features bluing on the barrel, cylinder, trigger, and grip frame, with color case-hardening on the hammer and frame. There is considerable holster and usage wear on the bluing, especially on the usual spots; muzzle, ejector rod housing, and back straps. There is a cylinder ring from use on each cylinder.
Overall Condition: Each gun retains about 75% of its metal finish. There are numerous little nicks, none serious, and after all, these were the guns that Tupelo Flash used for an entire season of shooting on the Outdoor Channel’s Western-themed show, “Cowboys!”. There is huch handling wear and finish loss from use. These were working guns. The Screw heads show some use and are still completely usable. The markings are clear and sharp, except where “NRA Centennial 1971” was engraved over on the “NRA4142” gun. Overall, these guns each rate in about Very Good condition.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The pair of pistols comes complete with a handsome, quality, two-gun Jay Redfeather leather rig, well-fitted to these pistols and the exact rig Tupelo used to film the TV show “Cowboys”. The belt has loops for .44 or .45 caliber cartridges, and is 44 inches from the center of the belt buckle to the widest belt hole. The “NRA4124” pistol also includes the original factory display box, a nice wood box with a clear glass top, and original case candy including the 1970s era parts list and owner’s manual, as well as a warning document and NRA enrollment brochure. Included in this package is an 8×10 feature poster of Ron “Tupelo Flash” Stein, the host of the television program, “Cowboys”, signed. Additional documentation can be obtained, and personalized to your desires, directly from Tupelo.
Our Assessment: 2nd Generation Colt’s are desirable in any configuration, and what we have here is a very special pair of SAAs! The Jim Bowie action work is impeccable; we have handled both of these pistols, and trust me, they are as slick and well-timed as it is possible for Colt SAAs to be. The engraving, expertly done by Kelly Laster, one of the top engravers in the USA today, is attractive and appropriate to the style and usage of the guns. These desirable pistols are as shootable as they are collectible! Ron “Tupelo Flash” Stein used these for an entire season of television filming and competition, which adds cachet to an already attractive package. Delightful – to the hand and the eye, with useful accessories, a well-fitted, quality rig, and special celebrity provenance, these will make a very happy owner of the lucky winning bidder!
