Our Assessment: This is a vintage Pre WWII Winchester Model 70 chambered in .30-06 Springfield. It is complete with a vintage Lyman Alaskan scope on a Griffin & Howe quick detachable mount. It is obvious that this rifle has seen a lot of use, but there are very few marks on the barrel or the wood, and the bore is fantastic with very little wear. This rifle is in about Fine condition. Normally, we would tout the all around uses for the .30-06 cartridge and how it can be used for all North American game animals, but we think collectors are going to snap this up before the hunters get a chance. The pre-’64 Winchesters are prized for the quality of their actions, and the pre-WWII guns even more so.
