Caliber: We think this is in .458X2” American. A .450 Marlin comes close to closing (the belt is too thick) but will extract. The .458 Winchester Magnum is too long. The consigner for this pistol has had one or two other single shot pistols in the .458X2” caliber.

Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked “B7515013” and “Remington / Model XP-100”.
Barrel Length: The heavy barrel is about 14” and it’s about 16 1/8” to the end of the muzzle brake.
Sights / Optics: There is no provisions for iron sights. The receiver has a one piece scope mount attached with a scope mounted marked “3X-9X / Burris”. The scope has a satin silver finish and shows very light handling marks on the eyepiece. There is a duplex reticle and the lenses are clear and free of distortion. The power ring turns freely. Overall, the scope is in Excellent condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one piece black rubber with a textured finish. It has a black plastic grip cap held on with three small screws. It shows a mar in the finish on the left side. The stock rates in about Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: The barrel and receiver have a matte black finish. The frame of the pistol is polished aluminum and the muzzle brake is brushed stainless.
Finish Originality: The barrel is not original to the receiver, but probably has its original finish.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 96% of its metal finish. The barrel shows one or two light handling marks about 1 ½” in front of the scope. The frame shows light handling marks plus several small spots of wear and there is a tiny mark through the finish on the edge of the port opening. The stock screw and scope mount screws are very slightly disfigured. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine to Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger pull is VERY light and crisp. We did not fire this handgun.

The .458X2 and the similar .450 Marlin have proved to have the power required to take all North American big game species.” This is a very unique looking pistol with its custom aluminum frame, silver scope and muzzle brake which all contrast with the black barrel and receiver. The barrel, receiver and scope show very little use and are in Excellent condition – only the custom aluminum frame shows marks of significance. This pistol and scope are all ready for your next elk hunt – it even has a screwed-on muzzle brake to help tame the recoil. All you need are some cartridges which can be made from .375 H&H or .458 Winchester Magnum cases.
