Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is a slight rub on the sides of the slide at the muzzle, only through the finish on the left side. These are only from the gun being stored on its sides. There is not even an idiot mark from disassembly; this gun has probably not ever even been disassembled. The breech face has only a couple of magazines worth of marking and the vast majority of its blue. The grip screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions nicely. We did not fire this handgun.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: One 95% condition magazine, nine rounds and with the markings described above is included.
Our Assessment: This is a VERY nice looking pistol for its age, with only a couple storage marks. If you are a Colt collector, you need to jump on this. If you were looking for a nice carry gun, or something for home protection and haven’t been satisfied with the quality of “NEW” guns, then this one ought to make you take notice. Beautiful looking and known for the quality of its workmanship, you won’t find a nicer 9mm on a Commander sized frame. The gunsmiths of the early 80s much preferred the Series 70 guns to the Series 80 because they were able to tune the trigger much better without the additional Series 80 parts. Whether a collector or a shooter, you will LOVE this pistol.
