Markings: The right side of the barrel is marked “Made In U. S. A. Winchester Repeating Arms Co. / New Haven Conn. Patents Pending”. The left side of the barrel is marked “Model 62 – Winchester / Trade Mark – .22 S L. or L.R.” The lower tang is marked “77956”. The bottom of the receiver is marked “77956A”. The area in front of the trigger guard is marked “8”. The top of the barrel and chamber ring both have a circled “WP” proof.
Barrel Length: The round barrel is 23” in length.
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a “U” notched elevator dovetailed into the barrel.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The two piece stocks are walnut with a smooth, straight grip and the “small” forend with 10 ribs. There is a black plastic buttplate with a “Winchester Repeating Arms Co.” logo mounted on the butt. The stock shows only light handling marks. There is one light scuff mark on the heel and toe on the buttstock. The buttstock fits well and is even proud near the receiver. The LOP measures 13 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is visible. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. The muzzle has some slight finish loss and there are minor small scratches scattered the length of the barrel. The receiver has only the slightest sign of frosting. Most of the noticeable wear is visible on the barrel were the forend slides past, the top of the receiver where the action opens, and near the hammer. This gun has normal wear from operating the action. The lower tang has some slight finish loss from handling. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition for a rifle manufactured in 1938.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle.

Our Assessment: This is a good looking pre-WWII Winchester Model 62 pump in near perfect mechanical condition. The stock looks amazing, the bluing looks amazing and overall it’s an amazing looking rifle. If you are a collector of Winchesters or these slide action gallery guns you need to jump on this opportunity. There are going to be fewer and fewer of these guns in this excellent ORIGINAL condition.
