Barrel Length: 15”
Sights / Optics: This Gatling gun is mounted with a elevation adjustable rear sight and a fixed front sight, both mounted along the right side rail of the 3:00 position barrel.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The carriage and wheels are beautiful oak. There is one area where a scratch has started from laying the adjusting bar on the wood and not in its metal holder. This is the only observed flaw worth mentioning. There are just a few scattered handling marks on the wheels and carriage body, with no cracks or losses visible. The LOP measures an “arms” length (any arm) from the rear of the crank to the front of your shoulder. The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: Blue Barrel & Brass Receiver
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The bores are bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. These barrels do not look like they have been fired since leaving the factory.
Overall Condition: This Gatling gun retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows just minor handling marks and a few areas of discoloration on the brass. These marks should clean up easily with Brasso. The barrels are evenly deep dark blued with few marks of any kind. There are just a few minor nicks in the wood from handling. There are no visible cracks or losses. The screw heads are sharp and undamaged. The markings are clear. Overall, this Gatling gun rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this Gatling gun. The ten barrels rotate when cranked and the magazine canister allows 10 rounds to be fired before rotating the canister to the next 10 round slot. There are ten, 10 round magazines in each canister of 100 rounds.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Two Broadwell magazines are provided as well as the complete carriage.
Our Assessment: Who has not wanted a ½ scale correct copy of the 1878 Colt Gatling gun? It is just beautiful, with its 10 dark barrels and gleaming brass finish. The oak of the wheels and carriage are spectacularly grained and this is truly a functioning showcase work of art. It also happens to fire .22 Long Rifle ammo making it nearly irresistible. Here is a rare chance to own that spectacular conversation piece that also shoots!!! This copy would make Dr. Gatling proud. Dr. Gatling created the Gatling gun as an “awesome weapon” which would make men of the battlefield afraid to fight and thereby make an end to war. Sorry, Dr. Gatling, it didn’t work out that way. Custer left his behind, a tactical mistake. Don’t leave this scale model behind they are scarce and hard to come by
