Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON” and the right side of the barrel is marked “45 Colt CTG.”. The yoke cut is marked “N823826 / MOD.25-5” and the yoke is marked “5X41X / F26”. The rear cylinder face is marked “6” and “N”. The left side of the grip frame is marked “F26”, “5X41X”and “N”. The underside of the grip frame is marked “N823826”. The right side of the barrel is marked with a “W” inside a circle, “4569” and a “U” inside a triangle. The right side plate has a large S&W logo and the right side of the frame has the “Marcas Registradas” address. 
Barrel Length: 8 3/8” 
Sights / Optics: The revolver is mounted with a fixed serrated ramp front sight that has a red insert. There is a white outline S&W micrometer click adjustable rear sight. 
Stock Configuration & Condition: The S&W Target style grips are checkered Goncalo alves with silver colored S&W medallions. The left grip panel has an extractor relief cut and both grip panels have a few small black spots towards the bottom. The checkering is still sharp and neither panel has any chips or cracks. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition. 
Type of Finish: Nickel 
Finish Originality: All Original 
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. 
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are drag marks on the cylinder and light handling marks on the finish. The hammer and trigger are case colored. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about Excellent condition. 
Mechanics: The single and double actions function correctly. This is a Square Butt, N Frame revolver with a pinned barrel. It has a checkered .500” wide target hammer and a serrated .400” wide target trigger. We have not fired this revolver. 
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: There is a luan mahogany finger jointed presentation box with brass colored hinges and clasps. Two screws have been replaced on the left hinge and all the blue flocking has flaked off the interior inserts. The box has compression marks and some scratches on all six sides. There is a compartment with a blue cover and a brass colored S&W logo button on it. Inside the compartment are the cleaning rod, bore brush, bore mop and screwdriver. The bore mop appears to have been used. This S&W presentation box is appropriate for the age of the revolver. Also included are the warranty card and instruction manual. The paperwork is in Fine condition. 
Our Assessment: This S&W nickeled revolver is a real show piece. This double action revolver chambered in .45 Colt has an impressively large hole in its 8 3/8” long barrel and would command the attention of anyone facing its business end. If you are a Cowboy Action Shooter that favors the 7 ½” Colt Cavalry SAA, this is the double action you need to complement it.
