Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “Remington Custom Shop Ilion, N.Y.”. The left side of the barrel at the receiver is marked “308 WIN”. The left side of the receiver is marked “066429B” and “Remington / Model 40-X”. The right side of the barrel is marked with an “S” in a triangle. The bolt handle is marked “6249”, “S” in a circle, and “A”.
Barrel Length: The button rifled heavy full fluted barrel is 27 ¼”.
Sights / Optics: The receiver is drilled, tapped and filled for scope mounts. There is no provision for iron sights.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one piece synthetic with a matte black finish by H-S Precision. It has a vertical pistol grip, a blue swivel stud mounted near the butt, and a bipod/tactical style pair of blue swivel studs mounted on the forend. The buttstock has a black rubber recoil pad installed marked “Remington”. There are several mars in the finish, the worst being an 8” long scratch from the butt forward. There is also a small green mark on the left side near the front of the comb that appears to have come that way from the factory. The recoil pad is pliable. The LOP measures 13 7/16”. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: The barrel and receiver are stainless steel with black matte Teflon finish. The bolt is jeweled.
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is deep and sharp. There is no erosion. The rifle appears NOT to have been fired since leaving the factory .
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is a slight mar in the finish on the bottom of the trigger guard, and a tiny mark on the top of the bolt knob. The screw heads are undamaged. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle.

Our Assessment: The H-S Precision stock has an aluminum bedding block molded into the stock which eliminates pressure on the barrel or warping when wet. Regardless of the weather, the point of impact will remain constant. This rifle, with its 27” barrel, should be capable of outperforming the Remington LTR which is said to be capable of ½ M.O.A. groups at 100 yards. Use this rifle in “F” class or for any precision long range shooting.
