Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “HK 45 .45 Auto” and below with “BE” date code and proof mark, followed by “HKU-022041”. The barrel through the ejection port is marked “HK .45 Auto / HKU-022041″ and with a proof mark. The grip frame on the right side is marked “Heckler & Koch Inc. / Columbus GA / Made in USA”. The left side of the frame, between the slide release and accessory rail has a proof mark. The underside of the trigger guard reminds you to read the instructions and a metal plate imbedded in the bottom of the dust cover is marked “HKU-0022041”. Each side of the grip is marked “HK45”.

Sights / Optics: The sights are night sights with a blade front sight with one lamp and a square notch rear sight with two lamps, both dovetailed to the slide. The lamps have dimmed somewhat but are still useful in very-low to no-light environments.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are integral to the black polymer frame and have an interchangeable backstrap (total of two included) with texturing and finger grooves. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the polygonal rifling is pronounced, there is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The barrel has very light operational wear. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The pin heads are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The decocker is engaged when the safety lever is pushed down and the safety is engaged when the lever is pushed up. The gun does not have a magazine disconnect. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a black plastic HK carry case wtih serial matching label, an assortment of factory paperwork including manual and fired case envelope, cable lock, additional O-rings, key for the internal locking system and a total of two 10-round magazines. The case has a few scattered light scuffing, in about Very Good-Fine condition. The accessories are in Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: From HK’s website: “The HK45 was developed as a product improvement of the highly regarded USP45, first released in the 1995. The Caliber .45 ACP HK45 includes several user-inspired enhancements including changeable grip panels (backstraps), a Picatinny MIL-STD-1913 accessory rail, better ergonomics, and more ambidextrous controls. Along with the HK45 Compact, the HK45 was developed as a possible candidate for the Joint Combat Pistol (JCP) and Combat Pistol (CP) programs administered by the U.S. military in their search for a new service handgun to replace the 9-millimeter M9. These programs were suspended before completion and no pistols were selected. The HK45 uses an HK proprietary O-ring barrel for precise barrel-to-slide lockup and optimal accuracy. HK45 barrels are made using the famous HK cold-hammer forging process for superior performance. Using HK’s unique internal mechanical recoil reduction system reduces the recoil forces imparted to the weapon and shooter by as much as 30%, improving shooter control during rapid firing and increasing component service life. HK45 models can be also be fitted with threaded barrels for use with muzzle mounted sound suppressors.” This example is in Excellent condition with little sign of use and comes with just about everything it would brand new.
