Markings: The left of the top barrel is marked “OB HP 12 GA. 3″-76-30″ / OPTIMA BORE – HIGH PERFORMANCE / 18.6” and with an Italian proof forward of the chamber and “SPORTING / BERETTA – MADE IN ITALY / GARDONE V.T.” at the chamber, the right is marked with Beretta’s two-line warning forward of the chamber and “BERETTA USA CORP ACKK, MD / EXCELSIOR H.S.A. STEEL” at the chamber. The bottom of the bottom barrel is marked “KG 1,480”, “18.6”, with three Italian proofs, “CH” in square date code and “1032184”. The bottom of the monoblock is marked “V1214S”. The inside of the forend iron is marked “NANO / ceramic” with a logo. The inside of the forend is marked “1037727” and “C5D799P”. Each side and the bottom of the receiver is marked “SV10 PREVAIL III” and “BERETTA”, the bottom also has a Beretta logo and “MADE IN ITALY”. The trigger plate is marked “PATENTED”. The grip cap is marked “SV10 / PREVAIL” and “QSTOCK”. The water table is marked with two Italian proofs. The top tang is marked “V1214S”.

Barrel Length: 30”, Vent-Rib

Choke: The barrels are threaded for removable Chokes. Currently installed is Modified over Improved Cylinder. Also included are Improved Modified, Skeet and Cylinder Bore.

Sights / Optics: There is a white bead mounted in a base at the front of the rib and a smaller silver-colored mid-bead. The top of the rib is finely checkered to reduce glare.

Weight: 7 lb., 14 oz.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece oil-finished checkered walnut with capped pistol grip, straight comb, and Kick-Off hydraulic recoil pad. The forend has a small scuff on the left at the front, a light drag line on the right at the top edge in the middle, and light handling marks. The buttstock has a few scattered light compressions and drag lines, mostly on the left and along the toe-line. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is sharp. The wood to metal fit is excellent. LOP measures 14 5/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the Kick-Off recoil pad. Drop at comb measures approximately 1 1/2″, drop at heel 2 1/4″. Cast is about neutral. The recoil pad shows little to no wear. Overall, the stocks are in about Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is very light wear on the barrels from the forend, concealed when assembled. Otherwise there are only a few scattered light marks. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Fine-Excellent condition and would be easily Excellent but for the light wear in the stocks.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly including ejectors. This shotgun has a selective single trigger selected with a switch on the safety. The safety does not engage automatically when the lever is pushed. The barrels lock up to the receiver with no play. We did not fire this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes in a blue plastic hard-sided Beretta case with the extra chokes described, manual, stock wrench, choke wrench and a bottle of Beretta lubricant. The case shows scattered light scuffs, storage wear and light wear on the interior from the contents, in about Very Good-Fine condition. The wrenches show very light operational wear, in Fine condition.

Our Assessment: From Beretta’s website: “The SV10 Prevail III Sporting over-under continues the winning tradition of Beretta’s modernistic SV line. It was designed to meet three important objectives: be optimized for competition, be durable and easy to maintain, and be natural-pointing and low-recoil. With this in mind, the SV10 Prevail III features a vault-like low-profile action, a self-adjusting fore-end mechanism that ensures consistent contact points with the barrels for best accuracy, an advanced recoil-reducing device (on select models) that dramatically cuts down recoil, muzzle jump and vibration, and super-durable OptimaBore barrels. All this and more make the SV10 Prevail III the shotgun for the most ambitious challenges.” This example is in Fine-Excellent condition with light wear in the stocks, little in the metal, bright bores with no erosion and strong mechanics. It comes in a Beretta carry case with an assortment of chokes, wrenches for chokes and for the easy to remove stock, manual and a bottle of Beretta lubricant. This model is no longer being imported to the US, so this would be a great gun to pick up if you’re a Beretta collector or just looking for one of these fine shotguns.
